I have the Cohen translation as well. Guess I'll stick with it. Took a break from The Recognitions ( :delaware: ! but good) to read The Loser and Woodcutters by Thomas Bernhard. Short, bleak, repetitive monologues by bitter aging men. Recommended if you think that could be interesting. Both books ar...

I'm a 'Murican and this doesn't sound like a common phrase. Maybe it's just John's sense of humor. Like in "Mental Breakdown": Looking for your sister, write her a love song/She cries and she cries and she pisses her pants Loss of control, humiliation, disgust, absurdity, your guess is as good as mi...

I made a flowchart to introduce some friends to his music, so it might be of some use to you. Ariel posted it on his twitter[/url] Ah, that was YOU! I'm sure that chart's been helpful to a lot of Pink newbies. What I like about House Arrest for a noob is that it has Interesting Results on it... tha...

Prepare. Make notes for yourself. Take benzodiazepines or beta blockers. Remember that it will be over soon and people will be focused on learning so they won't notice that weird tic you have. "This too shall pass." "Carpe diem." "You got this!"
Good luck!

I have the complete Gargantua and Pantagruel by Rabelais lined up. I have that one sitting on the shelf as well. I found out that my copy is an old translation, so I'm trying to decide if I should get the recent one since mine was only $2 or 3. I think I'll start that one after the Divine Comedy wh...
