Maus Space

I've continually had a liking for the mystical, but it wasn't until I matured a little iota that I discovered John Maus!

Hi all,

I’m new to the site but have been a huge fan of JM since Love is Real. I love the new album and I just wanted to point out the striking similarity between his new song, Decide Decide and the sound of UB40’s Johnny Too Bad by Ub40 off of Labour of Love. Vibes are strong for me. Do you feel a connection? I don’t know if he’s intentionally referencing it or not but I love both. Really love the pop reggae of Ub40 and would love if this song was any kind of influence. I hope it’s not a stretch, but maybe others get the impression with the synths.

Listened to them back to back. I can't really hear it, but I did enjoy the song! Never listened to UB40, what albums/songs you recommend?

I think their first album signing of and subsequent UB44 are the best most authentic stuff UB40 has done but their four part Labour of Love series features a series of covers of Jamaican reggae music by various artists-much more pop oriented and less political than earlier stuff
