Maus Space

I've continually had a liking for the mystical, but it wasn't until I matured a little iota that I discovered John Maus!

Wowzers. I sure wouldn't mind seeing MBV.

My next big show is probably Kayo Dot, in November, touring behind their excellent new HUBARDO album. Hoping the vinyl release is ready by then.

I saw Shannon and the Clams on Thursday. It was magical and I kissed Cody Blanchard on the cheek.

Saw Toro Y Moi last Tuesday. More importantly though: THIS http://www.ticketfly.com/event/398167/? ... medium=msh

Gary Wilson and R Stevie. A must see. It's also 4 days from my birthday! Spending the weekend before in Brooklyn would be the best present to myself. I've never been to NY before, aside from a brief trip to Buffalo as a child. Madam Ant, you guna be at this? Anybody else interested? Meeting a Maus Spacer would be chill.

I've already told her I would disown her as a sister if she does not go.

I cannot wait until this Saturday! I am seeing MBV
I believe this'll be the last proper show I ever go to...what a way to end all my concert-going experiences
I'll die deaf and happy

Well My Bloody Valentine has been my dream band and I finally got to see them live, sans the earplugs for a 1/3 of the show.
Quite loud and more phenomenal than you might think
some screw-ups here and there (the Holocaust section was abbreviated due to overheated amps)
Anyway

I'm glad it lived up to your expectations, App, but why do you say that will be the last proper show you go to?

I am hoping to go see stoner queen Colleen Green playing her first ever (free) London show this Friday. Then I will be swaying under the Upset the Rhythm banner once again for Gary War with Purple Pilgrims at The Shacklewell Arms. A friend has advised me to keep my tongue in my mouth (apparently Mr War is quite the looker). If he is also as kind as I've heard, then it will be a challenge, but I think I can manage.

Kayo Dot coming up next Monday. Got my ticket. It's at the same venue I saw Ariel last year, in a converted barn (it's called "The Goat Farm"). Just a single, small, open room. Fully expect KD to melt my face off. I also fully expect to be up really late because they (the venue) seem to go by the wisdom that no cool show starts before 11 pm.

I went to London to see THE FUTURE with my dearest friend this weekend.

Me with Gary War. In spite of what his look might suggest, I did not ask him too many nostalgic questions about Massachusetts, I promise. He was gracious and polite and I could have talked to him much longer if the staff wasn’t prematurely kicking everyone out of the dance hall for ‘80’s Night.’ I thought his set was criminally cut short to accommodate the second function of the evening. It was all the more exasperating because he was so thrilling to watch, howling reverb-soaked riffs into his mic whilst pummelling his Rickenbacker and barely glancing up at the audience at all. There was something trance-like about it: his chaotic hypnosis sharply juxtaposed with the lush, mesmerizing swoon of Purple Pilgrims that preceded him.

Me with Colleen Green. She came back and stayed at my place with her merch guy and driver after her show. Coincidentally, she was using R Stevie's tour driver, so we talked a lot about Stevie, Ariel and John.
I love having honest to goodness true blue music fans stay over at my house. A small pile of cassettes on my coffee table is met with rapturous delight and respect. We had breakfast at my corner café and I sent her back on the road with a whole stack of mix CDs my sister and I have made for each other over the years.

It's been a weird and wonderful couple of days for me.

Great pictures. You must have had a good time! But you should stop being so hot, LL. It's not fair :)

You must get your eyes checked one day, App. You are too kind to me ;)
I put my Gary War photos up on flickr if anyone would like to have a look. I was quite proud of myself because they are all more or less in focus and fairly decent!
