Maus Space

I've continually had a liking for the mystical, but it wasn't until I matured a little iota that I discovered John Maus!

Please recommend life-changing/saving music here. Or any audio recordings, not necessarily musical. Thank you in advance

I'll never forget the first time I listened to SF Sorrow by The Pretty Things, that blew me away and changed my life
I'm sure you might have heard SF Sorrow, though

Also, I listened to A Clockwork Orange soundtrack a lot as a kid, which made me love music forever

Naturally, the Beatles, Beach Boys, Bowie, Pink Floyd, Zappa changed my life

more recently, this changed my life

Ariel Pink is the last artist to truly change the course of my life, but if you're looking for a new pleasant surprise in an artist you may have overlooked, may I suggest Julian Cope and Captain Sensible. Both are fairly well known but have extensive discographies of mostly unknown but excellent albums.

Apptrans, Yes!. I'm not usually that predisposed to instrumentals, but i loved it. Here's some stuff that i am/was into though you've most likely heard it:

The Honeymoon Killers - Les Tueurs De La Lune De Miel

and

Véronique Vincent & Aksak Maboul - Ex-Futur Album

life changing/saving? i don't know if music has had that effect on me, but there are some albums that have steered me in a certain direction i guess.

for me the cure's "standing on a beach" was formative, but it has to be the cassette version with the b-sides which are essential.
i'm sure most of you have heard it already though.

as for life saving, personally, i would have so say beck's sea change.

that might be cliche but it was a helpful record.

Life changers

Zappa - Absolutely Free
Minutemen - Double Nickels
Can - Future Days (albeit after I'd already owned it for a few years)
AP - Before Today
