Maus Space

I've continually had a liking for the mystical, but it wasn't until I matured a little iota that I discovered John Maus!

At the Mexican Summer 10 Year Anniversary show last night, apparantly Ariel and Don said on stage that this was the last show. Other people were able to ask Tim Koh and Don and Ariel after the show what’s going on and they all said that this was the last show and Ariel said he was retiring. I’ll include where I saw all of this at the end of the post.

Someone else mentioned that they talked to Don and he said this was the final show with the current lineup and that Ariel wanted to do something different.

he's got nothing better to do, so maybe he means retiring from touring. Which I'm fine with  he's good at causing a stir without committing to what he says, though

Good for him. Performers are dull—just guys with guitars.

I hope he continues to make music, even if he's not performing it live. Ariel consistently makes music that's much more interesting than other popular stuff. My life has been better since becoming a fan.

ariel pink's haunted graffiti, to me, was never about any live performance.

i have seen him live. it was intimate. at the knitting factory in nyc 2006? it was glorified karaoke at it's most glorious. just him and a tape deck, mic, and few other odds and ends. i don't think there were many fans at the show but to me it was a perfect representation of his music.

no one else but ariel and his tapes. mouth drums of love.
