Maus Space

I've continually had a liking for the mystical, but it wasn't until I matured a little iota that I discovered John Maus!

Holy shitballs, I found a mint copy of Lover Boy today. I was about to buy some other record, then I looked up and this was hanging on the wall, staring me in the face. First time seeing a physical copy of this album in any form (except for Jordan’s replica, of course). :victory:

Holy shit what a great find Raregoat! I love seeing stuff like that in the wild. Plus it's one of my fav AP albums. How much did you pay for it if you don't mind me asking? And was it sealed?

Did you check around for any more rare AP goods? :float:

It was $40 lightly used.
I’d been through most of the store when I found it. Safe to say that was the only Ariel album in the store (mostly a used CD/DVD shop, but with a small LP selection). The store owners thought enough of it to display it on the wall, and the $40 price tag at least suggests they knew it was a valuable item. Discogs has VG+ copies for $50 and up.

That kind of find is why I love small local specialty shops: they'll always have something excellent and super rare laying around, most of the time because the usual customers don't know what it is! And I've pretty much witnessed this in every single hobby I have...

someone posted this on reddit. I guess it's an unreleased r stevie album from the 80's, "mood music" aka instrumentals. ariel used a few of them for his own albums. it's pretty cool, I don't think it was ever public knowledge.

Track 2: Kitchen Club

Format, release date, other salivating details? I notice the sequence is different from the LP. Is there a CD-R version that's considered more "definitive" being followed?

Yeah, sorry, was in class when I wrote that last post, so I had to do it quick.

This musician Slugbug (check him out, he rocks) is doing the APHG remasters for Mexican Summer, and at Ariel's, he found a stack of unsold CDs. One of which being labeled "Underground Deluxe + Rarities" (yes, the one on RSM's old site). Also, they found artwork for a "spiers in the snow EP", but Ariel says that one never made it past concept art, which I guess closes that search.
So yes, this is a sort of definitive CD.

I have no clue on a release date, the CD says "© 1998" on it, but I think that's referring to Underground as an entity, and not the CD itself, being that L'estat is on there (also, other discs discovered have copyright dates, which only refer to the album release date).

Shoutouts to the good samaritan who never paid for his CD haha
